Services Performed
- We jump started the vehicle to get it pulled inside. We then with the vehicle running checked the alternator output at the battery posts and from the power wire on the alternator to the ground side of the battery. Both matched showing only 11.2 volts indicating the alternator is not charging. We then tested the battery and it came back as a charge and retest. Given the battery is 4 years old it is likely the vehicle will need a new battery. We recommend replacing the alternator and while the repairs are being made we will charge and then retest the battery.
- After replacing the alternator we ran a post repair test and everything came out good. The battery tested good with a measured cca of 683 and the battey is rated for 640 cca. The alternator is now charging with a no load voltage of 14.25 V and a loaded voltage of 14.14 V.
