- We were able to confirm a cylinder 2 misfire. We first pulled codes and found a P0302 confirming our misfire as well. We visually inspected the area and found that the retaining tabs for the ignition coils were all broken. We disconnected the ignition coil and checked internal resistance and found it to be okay after plugging everything back in, clearing codes and test driving the vehicle we were unable to get it to misfire again. On our test drive we did notice that the engine would over heat and return to normal repeatedly. We started the vehicle up after letting it sit over night and found that it has bad timing rattle as well as lifter noise. We pressure tested the vehicle and found no signs of any leaks at this time. We then block tested the vehicle and found that it failed indicating a head gasket failure. We are recommending a complete engine replacement.
