Services Performed
- Inspected vehicle ignition system and verified key is unable to turn. Pulled apart steering column and verified that ignition lock is faulty. A new ignition barrel assembly is needed at this time. After replacement, retest is needed to verify correct operation of key. This operation is competed!
- Unable to move forward with check engine light diagnosis before repairing key issues first. After repairing key issues, started vehicle and noticed loud vacuum leak noise coming from engine bay. After inspecting found that intake flap actuator has broken off from intake manifold and is causing a large vacuum leak. Also noticed that the water pump is leaking as well and will need to be replaced while the intake manifold is off. Codes present are 08213, 08583, and 00768. After performing repair, all codes will be deleted and vehicle will need to be road tested to verify all systems are okay. After performing repair of intake manifold and water pump, cleared all previous DTC's and road tested vehicle. No check engine light has returned at this time and no leaks are present. BUT the ABS, Brake, and Traction control light are illuminated due to a faulty intermittent ABS hydraulic pump, Code 01276:014. Further diagnosis is needed to determine why ABS pump is faulty.
- This operation is completed.
- Operation: Replace Water Pump Assembly – Includes Coolant Drain/Refill and Intake Manifold Removal as Combination Labor Description: Performed removal and replacement of the engine water pump/thermostat housing assembly. Drained cooling system and recovered coolant as required. Removed engine cover, air intake ducting, PCV connections, and related components for access. Disconnected coolant hoses, electrical connectors, and mounting hardware from the water pump assembly. As part of required access, removed the intake manifold using combination labor procedures. Disconnected fuel rail, EVAP lines, MAP sensor, throttle body connections, and manifold fasteners. Inspected intake ports and manifold for carbon buildup or damage. Reinstalled intake manifold with new gaskets and torqued all fasteners to specification. Installed new water pump/thermostat housing assembly with new seals and hardware. Reconnected coolant hoses, electrical connectors, and all previously removed components. Refilled cooling system with approved coolant mixture and performed vacuum fill/bleed procedure. Verified proper coolant circulation and checked for leaks with engine at operating temperature. Cleared any related fault codes and performed final inspection.
